Googs Track, Head of the bight and Gawler Ranges
From Sat 4th 09.00am until Mon 13th 06.00pm
At Meet at Bolivar Caltex 09.00am
Permit is required to cross Googs, more information to come
Trip Leader: Paul Ewins
Difficulty: Medium, I would highly recommend heavy duty springs at a minimum.
From Adelaide heading to the head of the bight to see the whales, then heading back to Ceduna to travel up the Googs track and then coming back down through the Gawler Ranges. Pre-cursor to the Simpson Desert Crossing next year, this trip will give you a good understanding of what to expect from the Simpson on a smaller scale.
As this is a remote location cars and drivers need to be well prepared. You will need to be fully self sufficient, distance between fuel is roughly 350kms with enough water to last 3-4 days, recommended guide is 5L per person per day.
