Werner acquired the property mid 1993 and there was only a small remnant patch of vegetation in the NW corner. Over a period from 1993 to 2005, Werner has been planting Australian native trees & shrubs. As a result of the increased vegetation, numerous bird species either visit the property or call it home. There are great views overlooking the Murray River to the south.
Meet – Trip convoy depends on participants. The park is located 230km from Tailem Bend. Take the Mallee Highway to Linga then take the Pink Lakes Road to the left for 13.6km to arrive at the campground. A long relaxing weekend by the River Murray. You will need to be completely self-sufficient. Caravans OK. Hopefully we’ll be able to get our usual site 35 on the banks of the picturesque Katarapko Creek. There will be happy hour on the Saturday evening, so bring something to shre with the group. Also on Sunday morning there’s a market to explore in Barmera. Cost - $12.00 per car per night camping, paid at the registration station at the entrance to the park.
Recently, DEWNR and the 4WDSA Border Track committee planned an upgrade to the ad-hoc nature of the campground. Work has just been completed by heavy equipment sourced by DEWNR. This Working Bee is setting the boundaries of the campground using fencing along with any residual clearing of vegetation.
